How fitting that I started reading this and it's almost June! Probably the reason why the book is being released 5/31 (the first day that the book takes place). But, the title isn't merely a reflection of the month of the setting, it's also the name of the main character. This book is told in two time periods, 1955 and 2015 from the perspectives (mostly) of June (1955) and her granddaughter Cassie (2015). Although the two time periods are intermingled in the book, I'm going to elaborate on them separately as I feel that they are two different stories rolled into one.

Mini-Update : Kindle

So, I'm a little annoyed. I'm forced to take a few days break as all of my ARCs are uploaded on my 4 year old kindle fire 2nd gen, which never had any problems. Now all of the sudden when the battery gets below 50% it's stuck in a continuous rebooting loop. After a little bit of research, it seems that this is a common problem and that there's not much I can do about it, but that's to be expected with a semi-outdated device. The good news is that I have an excuse to upgrade! Will be back up shortly, I'm hoping since my next book is to be released on 5/31. Fingers crossed I make it in time! I might even review the new kindle... planning on getting the Fire HD 8. In the meantime, I'm going to just keep my current kindle permanently charging and hope for the best.

I really don't even want to start my next book, I just want to go back and devour this again! This book is half murder mystery half psychological thriller and I loved pretty much all of it. The story is told backwards, leading up to the day before the second girl, Annaleise, goes missing in a small town. Ten years before, the main character's best friend, Corinne, was reported missing and the case was never solved, her body never found. Now, after finding out that Annaleise was asking about Corinne's disappearance, it seems that the two girls are linked.

Wow. I started this book yesterday, and could not put it down until I was at least halfway through. Dark Matter is not for those who are just looking for a light read, but something that invokes you to question everything existing in your world at this moment. Let me try to begin to explain my thought process through this book by first explaining the plot and characters.

A Dance with Dragons

A Dance with Dragons

George R R Martin

I stand by what I said with my review for A Feast for Crows that the books should have been split differently, but ADwD was definitely more action-packed and entertaining than its predecessor. We still hear from some of the characters that were left off in AFfC, but that's more towards the end of the book. Now, to summarize what everyone's been up to:

I recently jumped on the Game of Thrones bandwagon, and this is probably the only time I'll ever say this, but I'm glad that I watched the show before starting the book series. Otherwise, I don't believe that I would have enjoyed reading the series as much as I have. With that being said, all of the books kind of mush together after having read three before, so I won't waste my time by trying to review the previous books, I'll just start with the most currently read which is Book #4: A Feast for Crows.

Welcome!

Welcome to Bright Copy Book Review!

Reading has been my solace for quite a few years now, but I never felt the need or want to review anything I read (thinking no one would really care what I had to say), but a few people have convinced me that I may have some worthy opinions to share with the world. A few things about myself: my name is Alyssa and I live in Connecticut (no, it's not just a bunch of rich white people). I currently have a full-time desk job and go to school online part time for my Master's in Psychology . I love showing off my adorable 20lb cat named Lola that has an obsessive licking habit and likes to lay on my head while I'm trying to read and/or sleep. ->
